National Scrapbooking Day

Today is National Scrapbooking Day, is anybody playing along? I found a couple of sites that are playing along firstly Shimelle is posting challenges on her blog here or Scrap Whispers are posting challenges here and Big Picture Classes  have 12 hours of challenges arranged. As the weather doesn't look too promising today, I'll probably play along with some of them.
I have finally put a couple of photos onto some of the pages I completed last weekend, I still have more pages to decide what photos to add. The first completed page is one inspired by a sketch over on Scrapbook and Cards today,  this was the sketch

I loved this sketch and it was perfect for using scraps of paper, I can see me using it over and again. Fortunately one of the challenges for National Scrapbook day over on Scrap Whispers is to use up leftovers. On this page the grey mat behind the title is left over from the last blog entry I made(I gutted the grey card stock that was the base), the oriental squares are from this page. The braid has been kicking around forever, and to cover a mistake I stamped the lantern on some patterned paper from goodness knows where. The blue rub ons are from an oriental kit I bought from QVC about 4 years ago. I think this qualifies.  Here is my page

Also on the layout you should spot a lovely voile flower, some tiny pearl flowers and a couple of blossoms made from scallop circle punches. End of Summer Blog Hop

Hello to all you UK Scrappers blog hoppers, hopefully you have arrived from Ifa's blog, I have been a fan of Ifa's clean scrapbooking style, how lovely is that layout.  Well the project I made is another take on what you can do with the vines I featured on the last blog hop. Often you see these things and think 'well they are lovely but what will I do with it'. Scrapbooking supplies are not just for scrapbooking.  I bought a bargain frame from a 'cheap' shop and wanted to add a bit of va va voom to it.I thought it was wood so was going to paint and crackle it,, turning it shabby and planned to give it a vintagey theme. Well that went out the window when I realised it was plastic.   Plan B then, I painted it with Gesso to give it a bit of 'tooth' so that whatever I did would grip. I followed this with a couple of coats of cream paint and sanded the edges. This was followed with a sheet of 12x12 cut down to the same size as each panel and glued
