More Christmas Preparations

Well I really don't know where the last two weeks have gone, I'm now recovering from my cold and laryngitis that I picked up while I was in London.My first week back at work and I found myself back on the train to London and a trip to Cambridge on top of not feeling well, it wiped me out. The good thing is at least its all over with now and I can enjoy Christmas knowing the cold germs are all gone.
Each year I marvel at the amount of time it takes to get ready for Christmas. Why do we do it to ourselves? We spend weeks getting ready for one day and when it comes we're all too tired to enjoy it. I have managed to wrap and label the Christmas presents I've bought, now they just need delivering. Where I'm going to find that time I've no idea as I'm working right up to the day.

I have been glued to the window today to monitor the snow situation, if it snows again I won't get to work tomorrow.

This was the level of snow on my bathroom window at lunch time today.

I've been baking most of the day making mince pies and a red velvet cake to take with me in the morning. If I'm snowed in at least I won't starve I've enough cake and pies to see me through to the New Year.

Here it is when it's cooked and with the icing on, it's delicious and I think it looks very Christmassy. So if it gets the thumbs up tomorrow I'll make one for Christmas Day.

End of Summer Blog Hop

Hello to all you UK Scrappers blog hoppers, hopefully you have arrived from Ifa's blog, I have been a fan of Ifa's clean scrapbooking style, how lovely is that layout. Well the project I made is another take on what you can do with the vines I featured on the last blog hop. Often you see these things and think 'well they are lovely but what will I do with it'. Scrapbooking supplies are not just for scrapbooking. I bought a bargain frame from a 'cheap' shop and wanted to add a bit of va va voom to it.I thought it was wood so was going to paint and crackle it,, turning it shabby and planned to give it a vintagey theme. Well that went out the window when I realised it was plastic. Plan B then, I painted it with Gesso to give it a bit of 'tooth' so that whatever I did would grip. I followed this with a couple of coats of cream paint and sanded the edges. This was followed with a sheet of 12x12 cut down to the same size as each panel and glued

Christmas Project
