Yesterday I thought I would try and tidy away some of the things that were hanging around in my craft room. I seem to spend so much time cleaning that room. In fact I think I'm a serial organiser, by organising I mean move it from one place to another and in between have a little play with what I am moving. I ended up with two cards and two pages. I then got down to the serious business of deciding what in fact I use and what I am hoarding. It was only Christmas that I gave 3 bin bags of 'hoard' to a friend who runs a craft club at school. Last week I listed some embossing stuff on e-bay. remember the brass stencils, Sizzix embossing folders and Fiskars embossing plates? I don't know when I last had these out, they were just sitting in boxes and drawers. Today I have decided I need to list all of my Sizzix dies. I bought a Cricut (which I love) and now don't ever use the Sizzix dies, I have two drawers and one cupboard full of them. I do use the Big Shot with my Nestabilities and my Cuttlebug embossing folders. At first it made me sad to think of all the money they had cost but then I weighed it up against the fun and suddenly they were all a bargain. Fashion changes and technology advances, I am a crafter that has stayed 'fashionable' and advanced with the times. (I like to think so anyway.) Now I feel it's OK that I have all this stuff, what would be sad is if I didn't do anything with it and if I'm not doing anything with it let somebody else enjoy it.
I now have to think what I could put into those empty drawers, no only joking! It does feel good to have re-arranged my workspace and it seems to have spurred a creating frenzy.
Winter Wonderland have challenged us to show cards with cute creatures on. The sort that make you go Aaah. I used one of my favourite Penny Black Christmas stamps, I first saw it on a card somebody had made and then searched high and low until I got it. I've had it a few years now and still love it as much. My first reaction when I saw it was Aaah. Winter Wonderland is certainly helping me prepare for Christmas I have a nice little pile of cards building already.
